My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere...I did a search to no avail.

I know the Toshiba RS-TX60 records in the DVD-R and -RW formats only. I was wondering, however, if the unit will play back discs recorded in the +R and +RW formats. The specs for the model says it will not. However, other dvd players I have owned have played back formats which supposedly were not supported.

I am considering ordering this model, but I have many discs recorded in +R and +RW and would like to be able to play them on the RS-TX60 if I could.

Thanks.

I've never tried it myself, but I believe it does playback +R/RW.

I think My RSTX20 does, too ... but if are REALLY concerned about this, I'll confirm over the weekend.

The drive is (a variant of) the NEC 108Z. Firmware capable of +- R/RW, but only -R/RW burning is supported on the device.

Thanks everyone...I just hate to order and find out I can't play all my discs.

Confirmed. +R's are not a problem. Don't have any +RW around, but I don't see why those wouldn't play.

I just tested mine as well. My RS-TX20 plays +R discs without a problem.
