I just moved to a new house. My previous house had the 3lnb dish. They came out yesterday and told me that I couldn't get the 3lnb dish but I could get the regular oval dish.
Question is can I still use my hdtivo with a regular oval dish and separate hd antenna?
thanks

You can USE it, but you won't get the Sat B & C channels...
Why can't you get a Triple LNB Dish?

My new place has some strategically places trees. What would the sat b&c channels be. I'm assuming that I would loose the d* hd channels. Would I loss any regular channels?

You can see which channels are beamed from which satellites here ...

Most likely you'll just miss out on the HiDef channels, provided that your local channels are not beamed from SatB at 119-deg.

Many installers are unduly pessismistic. They opine that dishes cannot receive a signal, when, with a little work, they can.

If sat b is 119 what would sat c be? I checked the listing for 119 and my locals are not listed on there. And I would be okay with losing the channels associated with 119.
As far as the installers go, the first guy that came out said.. Nope you can't get D*. Then the next day his supervisor comes out and tells me that I can get D*, just not HD. Figuring that I record 95% of my HD content from the antenna I figure that I don't need d* for HD.

Sat C is at the 110 location.

No locals from it.

I am in the same situation. The whole property has the neighbors trees one after another. I have to use 3 round dishes to get all 3 sats. I get 101 through a small hole in the tree line where a storm broke off one of the trees in half. I get 119 from another location I just got a HD-tivo so went to put another dish where the 119 is to get 110 and get a poor signal. I will have to spend next week trying to find a good place to shoot the 110 sat so I do not miss monday night football in hd. The neighbor hates all the dishes I have set up I can't wait till next year when I will need to add 2 more dishes to get all 5 sats. I am hoping when that happens he will agree to let me cut the tops of some of the trees if I agree to only use one dish:).

Remember the dish used for 110 needs to use the Sat C LNB. Then its outputs are combined and connected to the 18v/22khz input on the 4x8 or 5x8 multiswitch.
Maybe a 50' tower would work better for you. :)
