Just an fyi, there is a pay per view showing of the World Series Of Poker final table tomorrow afternoon at 5pm eastern.

Cost is $24.95, and it gets you every hand of the final table.

No hole cards will be shown though.

Last year's final table with 30 million less in chips lasted 13 hours, so this could be a very long show.

Scott has posted about this in the Tivo Help Center. We're both having this problem.

We've ordered this, but can't figure out how to get Tivo to record it.

What to do?

You can't just set up a really long manual recording? Even if you can't specify the correct channel, just get the TiVo to start recording, then tune the cable box manually.

I tried ordering it this morning and it wanted to start recording immediately.

I've just told my wife to change the channel and hit record when it starts at 5pm. Couldn't find an easier way besides doing a really long manual recording.

Before last night, I didn't even know I could DO a manual recording. I've never had any issue before.

I did set up a manual recording; however, it will only go for 16 hours... hope it doesn't last longer than that. (As a backup, I've also recorded on the bedroom tivo which has a larger hard drive.) Gonna be weird when I ask all my guests to join me in the bedroom for the last of it.

I think I'm going to order this. I just hope I can avoid finding out who wins until I have time to finish it, which will probably take me about a week. I figure there's no way I'll be able to avoid finding out before it comes on regular ESPN, so I might as well try watching it once without knowing. Will be weird without the hole cards though, might actually be more enjoyable.

I have mixed emotions about watching this. The current chip leader, Jaime Gold, is someone I know fairly well and have played with many times in small local tourneys. I am simultaneously very happy for him and also exceedingly jealous. He's a darn good player, and a very decent, nice guy, but in my heart of hearts I know I have more game than he does........but I didn't have the time or desire to plunk down 10K to try and fade 9000 players...

I'd rather play than watch 13 hours of someone else play. I've watched the coverage on ESPN and that is slightly more interesting because you can see the hole cards. I normally play twice a week at a free tournament up the street from me. I enjoy it most nights. Came in 5th place last Friday, out of 40-45 or so people.

Daniel, I did not see spoilers listed on this thread title. Please edit your post.

The thread's about the final table. Since the final table hasn't started yet, nothing can be a spoiler, including who's at that final table.

I setup a 23 hour manual recording on PPV channel 121, and my tivo asked me something like, "This manual recording is REALLY long, do you really want to do it"?

That's pretty funny.

I did mine for 15.5 hours, and got the same message......although, given the line-up and the chip counts, I'd be suprised if it's not over in about 8-10 hours, maybe even much quicker.........

Aside from the fact that the show hadn't even started, I don't see why spoilers wouldn't be allowed in this thread. The title refers specifically to this showing which is only one once, so a date or episode title would be redundant.

I know. If I were trying to avoid finding out who the winner of an event was, the last thing I would do would be to open a thread such as this..... :p

seriously, though, even though my post wasn't a spoiler at all, perhaps smak might want to edit the topic title with a spoiler alert in case we might want to discuss play once it starts without the interference of the thread police?

The show hasn't aired yet and the series has yet to air that shows everything leading up to the final table. Of course that is a spoiler! Why is it even a question?

Final Table in the title is just as easy to figure out as saying Lost 5/23.

If you haven't watched Lost 5/16, or Lost 5/9, it's pretty easy to figure out not to go into the Lost 5/23 thread.

The rules say that in the "Lost 5/23" thread, talking about things happening in the Lost 5/16 or Lost 5/9 thread or the history of Lost is fair game.

Same rules apply here.

If you want to actually talk about things happening at the final table, i'd suggest a new thread.

The "show" on ESPN won't air for 4 months.

I think you have it backwards nothru.

You wouldn't go into a "WSOP day 1 thread" and say who made the final table.

There certainly is nothing wrong with going to a "WSOP final table thread" and saying who lost on day 1.

I heard Scott Friedman made it to day 2.

Even though I was there watching him, i'm going to complain to the mods about that spoiler.

True, it might be a good idea just out of courtesy to the casual observers. I can see how people might not have realized that the show is many weeks behind the actual event and consequently assumed that the PPV event was several weeks away, not today.

I'm pulling hard for cunningham, spoilered while spoiler issue resolved. He's clearly the most polished and experienced poker player at the table, and it would be great to see his talent bring him a win. Watching the live updates on cardplayer, Gold has played really well but he has also won EVERY race, and been put in really dominant positions in huge pots - I think he's had AA vs KK twice, or something similar, for pots where people are happy to get all their money in the pot only to be dominated pre-flop. I wouldn't be suprised to seem him run into a spell of bad luck.

holy crap....I can't imagine liking poker enough to watch other people play it for 16 hours.

it might have been a bigger pain, but i would have set up manual timers in say 1-2-3-4 hour increments. and easier to transfer to dvd that way. or watch and delete

is it over yet?

Well, it's not the edited version of the FT, it's the whole thing starting with day 1.

Probably something like 10 hours leading up to the FT, and 2 hours of the FT.

so what is THIS thread for again?

and how does Mikey know it's going to last 16 hours?

Yah, you're right. I meant this to be an alert.
