This is the week that Zayra has to go!

they are just being PC, yes, even rockers like tommy lee can be politically correct sometimes. she coulda gone any week shes been up. there is NO WAY she could front that band.

I felt the overall quality of the performances was really high this week, and it was evident that there were almost exactly 3 bad performances: Zayra, Patrice and Jill. Every time I thought there couldn't be another encore worthy one, another person outdid the last. I was impressed with the two guys who, before now, didn't impress me: Magni and Lukas, in particular.

Magni was incredible...opened my eyes to see how he could win this thing.
Lukas was good, but it was mostly due to the GREAT song. Can't really screw that one up. Marty Casey did it better last year though.
Storm is slowly edging Dilana for the lead in my book.
Zayra is really, really, really bad...and looks terrible in those outfits too.
My wife hit it on the head about Patrice last night...she looks like she should be at the Lileth Fair.
Jill really screwed up that song.
The hip-hop dude is like that Sesame Street bit "One of these things just doesn't belong".

Yes, Josh needs to go also. He keeps SMILING during songs he's not supposed to smile during. Nirvana and STP are not smiley bands; stop it Josh!
Patrice ... I don't even see that powerful a voice. As a huge John Lennon fan, I actually cringed when Brooke announced that Patrice was doing Instant Karma. And rightfully so; Storm would have been a much better choice for that song.

I agree ... his was probably the best performance last night.

I think Storm is great but I think last night was her worse performance to so far. I heard sour notes alot. My opinion though.
My wife hit it on the head about Patrice last night...she looks like she should be at the Lileth Fair.
HA! My wife and I have been saying this as well. She did well last night but she look like the opening act for Sarah MacLaughlan (sp?)
The hip-hop dude is like that Sesame Street bit "One of these things just doesn't belong".
I think he has a great voice and is quite good. He's just not Rock. He should go way of John Mayer or something.
Toby version of Burning Down the House was awesome (megaphone? not so much!)... he punked it out and it was the best "Rock" song of the night (i did like the megaphone siren however)

Spot on the Storm comment! Josh...um....he blows and is miserable to watch - he should be in the bottom 3 with Z and Patrice - PERIOD
This was the best night so far this season as far as everyone turning it up a notch.
Tommy Lee is still Little league COMPARED (people tended to leave this off last time) to the house drummer and to begin to support this, Patrice sang with him last week - BOTTOM 3. Josh this week.....probably bottom 3. He is a 'ho hum' drummer - just the basic arms flailing, boom/tap beats.
IF I were singing up there and Dave asked, "So dude, tell me....how did it feel up there with Tommy kickin it behind you?"
ME: "Well, Dave.....now I see why no one fights to sing with these guys. The houseband kicks their asses! Thanks guys! I'll bring it again next week. Thanks everybody. RAWK ON!" :D

What the heck was on the t-shirt that Storm was wearing? Something about big balls and then a figure grabbing his crotch?
The bottom three they listed (Jill, Z and Patrice) can all leave and I'm hoping Jill or Patrice is a goner. The only problem with Jill is that she always rocks on the Wed. night show. While Z has absolutely no change of fronting this band, I'd like her to stay a little longer - she is entertaining.
Even though I don't like lucas, his performance was pretty good. Outside of the three they listed as the bottom three and I'd add Josh to that group all the performances were musically entertaining.

This was the first time I wasn’t completely blown away by Dilana’s performance. I can see how Gilby loves this song a guitar player, but it just isn’t a very good song for a singer. No wonder no-one else wanted it :). I think that extra praise at the end of her performance was there partially to re-enforce her choice of singing with one of the Supernova members.
Storm also wasn’t all that impressive this week (not to usual standard of performance). However, she was MUCH better than Jordace (sp?), who totally butchered this song last season.

Ryan's performance was just odd. I didn't think he sang that well and the whole weird thing didn't do it for me.
And Magni's performance- wasn't that original- Ryan did just "him and the instrument" thing last week- however it was really good. I never liked that song but loved his version- to get that much power with just acoustic guitar and your voice is incredible.
Once Patrice, Josh, Jill and Zayr(d?)a are gone, the real competition will begin.
I see Toby, Lukas and Ryan as the bottom three of the top and Dilana, Magni and Storm as the top three of the top. Though any of them can change that with more great performances or really bad ones.
I wish they would just perform (assuming they had the ok) to sing either a Crue, Metallica, or GnR song. I really want to see Dilana and Storm singing something like Home Sweet Home, GGG, Dr. Feelgood, SCoM, WttJungle, Paradise City, or the like. We need Storm's crazy, psycho eyes back.
Oh, and regarding:
What the heck was on the t-shirt that Storm was wearing? Something about big balls and then a figure grabbing his crotch?
If I had to guess, I think Storm was tossing out a hello to her band Storm and the Balls.

When I saw that, the first thing I thought of was "thumbin' your way to Vegas, dirty and dreamin' like you're out of control." Dave Navarro was probably thinking of that, and of Anthony Kiedis on the "Love Rollercoaster" cover (from the Beavis and Butt-head movie) when Dave was in the Chili Peppers, which is why he would say "been there, done that."
Magni and Lukas were better than they usually are, but Lukas seems to have an issue completing words that end in consonants. Like "run." Oh, and I don't like the Mick Jagger strut or the thing he does with his lips. It's too "put on."
Dilana was good, but not great. I thought Storm was better than Dilana this week, but also not great. They're still my two favorites. I also didn't like Gilby on guitar at the beginning of "Won't Get Fooled Again" (though I did like the Eddie Van Halen camera angle). The beginning of that song is keyboards, and sounds much better that way. They made it all guitar-y because Gilby was playing on it. It didn't go. And where was Dilana's Roger Daultry scream? That's why you sing that song. For the CSI Miami scream.
Zayra just needs to go. Magni speaks English as a second language and doesn't appear to have trouble singing in English. Zayra just does not have command of the language at that level, apparently. Especially on "All the Young Dudes," where the lyrics are rapid fire. She just couldn't keep up. It's like she has to think of the word before saying it. That, and her pitch and tone suck too. She's just awful.
Josh also needs to go, though he didn't sound too bad tonally on STP last night, he just doesn't fit.
I think Ryan is seriously overrated. WTF was that last night? He's kinda like Dana. I'm just not buying it from him.
On the Patrice Lilith Fair thing, I think Dave Navarro already said that about one of her performances on the air. She's just boring.
Oh, and did anyone watch the reality webisode this week? They did original lyrics and melody over a Supernova track. They all seemed to be pretty awful at it.

Once again Dilana was the best of the night. Her voice is amazing. I really wish she would sing some Janis Joplin... that would be amazing.
Please please please remove Zayra from my TV. I honestly don't know how she made it on camera. She should have been left behind. There seriously wasn't anybody better than her out of the thousands who auditioned?

+1...and.....
Eddie Van Halen does the guitar version of the intro much better, IMHO. Great live version on Right Here, Right Now, but this was the only version I could find. Even in the studio it sounds awesome. AND, Sammy did a decent scream. I too thought that Dilana, though good, was sort of pedestrian on this song....

Best episode yet.
I enjoyed Dave giving all the other guys crap for not wanting the song with Dilby/Gilby/Goober (whatever his name is). That was funny.
But several of the guys had great performances.
Ok, was I one of the only ones who did not get that hooded sweatshirt performance or any of the rest of it. It totally shocked the crap outta me when everyone was going on about how great it was. I could tell that Tommy Lee agreed with me but then he caved. What's up with that???

Maybe it was just me but it seemed like Lukas missed the one big note that his entire song led up to when it kicked into high gear. That kind of ruined the song for me. All that buildup just to be flat on your big note. Ugh.

Agree with Zayra opinion, disagree with Dilani.
On the plus side Zayra's voice was muted by the band and backup singers, so last night wasn't the typical "scratching the chalkboard" performance from her.
Is it me or is Dilani like Al Green, every song she sings sounds like the last one she sang....

I did notice that about Zayra. At one point she was moving her lips and it sounded like nothing was coming out. It would have been the best part of the song if only I had closed my eyes.

I love Josh - which means he needs to go home, as he's totally not right for this band because I would never listen to it - and I have never listened to the bands these guys were in. So why do I watch... mostly just to laugh at these people.
Zayra is awful. They are really building her up now as this "what will she do next" kinda performer, and frankly, I don't think many of us care what she does except to go home.
I hate Lukas... eeek... I laugh at him the most every week. He stands at the mic like he has to pee.
I'm ok with Toby and Magni. I loved the headphones on the baby (which were probably an excellent idea... I imagine it's very loud in there).
Dilana - is ok-ish - though a little scary, but she looks so old... it's like my mother has put on a wig, freaky makeup and pierced herself... not a pretty picture.
Storm just looks mad - which a lot of them do week after week - You don't really sing or perform any better if you just look angry all the time. That was Dana's big problem to me - she put on this really fake "I'm angry at the world" look - it looked fake and it didn't help her any.
Jill and Patrice - who? Very unmemorable.
Thanks for the links.

"And where was Dilana's Roger Daultry scream? That's why you sing that song. For the CSI Miami scream."
She can't scream, she has no high range. I recognize she has talent, however 2 hours of that in concert, NFW. 60 minutes on an album, NFW. 3 minutes at a time on TV, OK.
Bottom 3 prediction for tonight:
Jill
Zayra
Patrice
Just like the votes showed at the end last night, and the shreaker, Jill, goes home. Zayra lives another week just because the boys want to see what crazy outfit she puts on next.
My 4th choice would be the smiling retard Josh. Grab your guitar, find a coffee house or bar that will allow you to play for free, smile away, grab some easily impressed girl at the end of the night and go home. Rinse, repeat.
Final 4 prediction (in this order)
1. Magni
2. Storm Large
3. Dilana
4. Toby
Bloom is off of Lucas' rose. Same shat, different tune. Jason is not just being picky with his constant badgering on proper vocalizing, he's seriously concerned how that voice will hold up thru repeated takes in the studio as well as 2 hour shows on road day after day. He's been around enough to know potential vocal trouble when he sees it.
She can't scream, she has no high range.
Well, if Axl Rose wasn't such a d$%^@#$d, Guns 'n Roses might still be around. And Axl really didn't have much range either. Though I like Dilana, she reminds me of Axl. In the eyes of the Holy Trinity, this might be what they want.......
Though if I were Tommy, I'd rather look at Storm for 2 hours a night than Dilana, but I would still be happy with Dilana.

Some info is available here:
http://rockstar.msn.com/news/rockers
Dana Andrews: Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia.......The 22-year old beauty .........
Magni: Boarding school is usually ........Born in 1978......
Ryan Star: Ryan Star is a charmer. ........the 28 year old Long Island.......
Storm Large: How do fans love Storm? Let them count both the ways and the lanky inches, for there are many, many of them. But her height is certainly not the only quality that makes Storm Large so memorable. Even if she wasn't six feet tall, you'd still feel like a midget standing next to her-so enormous is her talent.
In her popular revue in a little club in Portland, Oregon, Storm and her band The Balls have collected a devoted following of fans who not only witness one gorgeous, sexy, fearless babe with balls-to-the-wall, tear-the-house-down vocal chops, but an oftentimes ingenious stage performer. You're never bored when Storm's in the house.
Not surprisingly, Storm (born with the fateful name Storm Susan Large) was a rebellious kid who truly discovered herself through singing. In 1989, she earned her associates degree in performance at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and soon moved on to San Francisco where she started her band, Flower SF. Other bands would follow and disband leading her to Portland where her lounge core act has offered gigs and tours galore, as well as making Storm a local legend. To paraphrase The Scorpions, Storm really does rocketh like a hurricane. EDIT: Yeah, I know there is no age here, but I am partial to Storm......
Toby Rand: Ever wonder .........Born in 1977 in Melbourne......

I have nothing against her - also personality wise she seems pretty well togother (though I haven't seen the web episodes) - I just think some of the wild colored hair/makeup and piercings make her seem "freakish" and she looks way older than she should.

Once again Dilana was the best of the night. Her voice is amazing. I really wish she would sing some Janis Joplin... that would be amazing.
Please, someone explain this to me because I just don't get it. She was ABSOLUTLY not the best last night and I don't see how her voice is all that great. When she does that loud yell she sounds good, but though most of her songs her normal singing voice is kind of irritating. Its got that constant quiver to it, and she still sounds like she needs to clear her thoat. I guess its her image thats got people fooled, but go back and listen to her performance last night without looking at her...I don't see how anyone could take that sound for 1 hour straight.
Vocally, the following people were better than Dilana last night...Toby, Storm, Gilby, Lukas, and maybe even Ryan. There's no way she outsang Gilby or Storm (who had her worst performance last night) or Toby (minus the megaphone).

I'm a big Dilana supporter (I still say I'd pay to see her, or possibly Storm, but no one else), but I'll agree last night was not her strongest vocal performance. The week before, she used the 2nd half of her song to try to kick the range a bit higher, and I was hopeful that she would use that again for the 'scream' in Won't Get Fooled, but she disappointed me. However, she above all the others knows herself, knows how to present herself and knows how to mesmerize with what she has. It's what Zayra is trying to do (and probably never will).

Well I dont enjoy listening to Taylor Dayne or Joss Stone either, but others do (Dilani's vocals are very reminiscent of both of them but both have a wider range than Dilani. Matter of fact, should Dilani get in a bottom 3, "Tell it To my Heart" or "I'll be your Shelter" might be a good song choice for her). Chalk it up to personal preferences...
I do agree with you, I couldn't listen to her for an hour. I cound't stand her rendition last night, the tempo was too slow for me...

+1
She sounds like she smoked so much that she should have died of cancer years ago. But she could do a spot on Joplin cover.
The bottom three of Jill, Zayra, Patrice is obvious. The rest are much better, but I can't see any of them fronting this band. While I have not watched every episode, I like Magni the best from what I have seen. I still don't know if he would be good for this band.

I totally didn't agree that Lukas did a good job. The way the song was cut was bad and he didn't sound all that good singing it. The guy from last year did a good version.

Man, I agree just about 100% with all of this. My Final 4 prediction is in a different order, but that order will change week to week. I still have Storm as the favorite. I can't believe she's 37.

Gilby sang backup last night, and I didn't much like his harmony. But he didn't sing lead.
Perhaps you mean Magni
;)
Sorry, I did mean Magni. I keep getting those 2 names confused.

 And you are a big league drummer..........what band you play for or who do you play for??
So many children these days equate wealth and notoriety with ability and talent. What is 'big leauge' to you when it comes to music or 'succeeding' in what one does? Oh the age old question. However, I could travel to some local high schools around here and easily find someone with more talent and ability....my guess is, THAT is not yet 'big league' to the masses. My point....you tend to misdirect your posts. I never claimed to be 'big league' according to your standards of equating wealth and fame....rather talent and ability...that said, T Lee will stay in the Minor Leagues in my circle and opinion.
So back to my point Nate Vs T LEE = no contest!

Just asking if you were a "big league drummer". Don't be a politician and talk "around the question", answer if you are a big league drummer and if so, what band do you play for or who do you play for??
Maybe I'll make more simple for you to understand..........are you a drummer???
From decoding your answer, it looks like you are not even a drummer......or even a musician.

30 years bro and you know you have come far when you are on these boards and quoting yourself (where the hell is my EGO?)
"I never claimed to be 'big league' according to your standards of equating wealth and fame...." I could list a few bands, but mostly local groups over the years. Currently, I play with a blues/jazz group, a cheesy houseband at a local bar on weekends, and pretty involved in musicals in the local theaters. Having a family, I no longer chase that dream of drumming for wealth and fame (big leagues to you). So if you are looking for me to say I am in a recognizable band to you, my guess is I wouldn't be wasting time on here if I was.
Sorry that I crushed your impressions of T LEE as a drummer. He is avg at best. Most rock drummers that YOU would claim to be 'big league' are only avg at best....I can start at the beginning of the alphabet from ACDC to ZZTop. Are they rich and famous? Sure. Great drummers? Not even close! Get over it! ;)

I'm no expert but there's more to performing than just playing the drums. The "best" bands don't always have the best musicians.
I remember way back int he old days when they interviewed the group Steely Dan and asked them to name the best guitar player they had seen - they answered the studio guitar play who played on Can't but a thrill album.

If T-Lee was any good he would have played on some of the Who songs performed on the show. Keith Moon was an incredible drummer IMO. It's pretty funny when Tommy does those over the top endings to the songs he plays on. The double base roll is so 80's. I was waiting for for him to go into a total hairband drum solo.
Is it me or does everyone just not seem into it on this show? It feels as if the contestants have lost interest in playing for this band after hearing their tracks and are just going back to doing whatever they style want. And the band itself doesn't seem to be gelling. It seems as if Dave Navarro is trying to hold this thing together to see it to the end. But none the less it is still entertaining.
