Only 3 episodes left counting this one!

That's both bad and good news.

I haven't been keeping track of how many left,
but was getting worried about conflicts when the new season starts on the regular networks.

Wouldn't all the guests in the burn ward have to wear stuff over their mouths and stuff??

Good episode though, the retard joke was great :)

I almost thought Tommy and his ex-wife were going to get back together there for a second...

The look the brother gave Franco at the end makes me think that the storyline isn't over. And that the brother doesn't have as many problems as he pretends to have.

I thought the same thing.

The confrontation between Tommy and his ex was incredible. The acting on both their parts was amazing.

LOL so her brother is functional like Paris Hilton ROFLMAO! So I guess her brother isn't so dumb after all. Well I guess Stack dying might of been for the best since the guy wouldn't of liked living that way.

That was #1 in my book. I have to rewatch to get the quote exactly, but the way he said that one was fantastic.

Can't wait for next 2 weeks. The proverbial ****** will need to hit the fan to keep this same group together for another year. Living on a boat in Florida? Yeah, I'd go. What Probie is dealing with? I'd be out of there, too. Tommy retiring to a hot wife and money? Hard to turn down. But you know something is going to happen where they all band together, and I can't wait, and also cringe, and what it might be.

----flashback to previous episode----

Did anyone else notice when Franco and the brother (Richard?) sat down to play checkers, the brother was red, but he moved a black checker from his side toward a lone red checker on Franco's side? Then when he moved for Franco, the colors were right again?

Anyway, the brother character from the start reminded me of the Bob Odenkirk David Cross character on "Just Shoot Me" where he pretended to have been damaged falling from a tree as a kid (if I remeber correctly). He got away with murder, people waiting on him for years before it all fell apart. I don't think the brother thing is that extreme, but I wouldn't be surprised if part of it was an act. Getting lost in Harlem with his tourrets (sp) problem? Yikes!

There has to be an epic fire/disaster that pulls them all together at season's end.

VERY good TV!!!

EDITED to fix the actor's name so someone doesn't feel the need to correct me on it AGAIN.

I cannot even describe how much I love this show. I'm really, really dreading the season finale because I know I'm not going to get my fix for a long time. :) I'm already imagining the cliff hangar they're going to stick us with in the last ep of the season.

And Tommy is right. I'll take 2000 whores over 72 virgins any day of the week.

Absolutely right - I stand corrected. Odenkirk was in another episode of the show. I always get them confused.

Best American sketch comedy show ever.

Yes it is...that even counts when comparing to ALL shows.

If I was told that I could only watch one new show for the next year, "Rescue Me" would be the single Season Pass I would have.

Tommy's scene in the bar was very well performed, not only by Leary, who is brilliant in this series, but by the secondary and background performers as well. Very powerful scene -- one of the best in a season of great scenes.

Love this show, even if it does border on soap-opera melodrama a bit too much. I mean, this show prides itself on its gritty realism, but sometimes you get the sense that a bit too much happens in the lives of these dozen major characters. Life just isn't always that exciting, tragic and dramatic all the time. Don't get me wrong -- I do love this show and look forward to it every week -- but once in a while I think the show forgets to stop and take a deep breath. Just one man's opinion. :)

For a show that is so masculine and has such a big guy fan base, its funny how very soap opera the plot lines are. I watched this episode with my fiance who had never seen it before. I had to keep pausing to say things like-

thats tommy's ex-wife, shes living with his brother now and is carrying a baby that might be tommys or might be the brothers

thats tommy's uncle, hes in jail for killing the drunk driver who killed tommy's son

thats sheila, shes the widow of tommy's cousin, they hook up now and then

thats tommy's dead cousin, they chat now and then

I'm not being critical, its definitely the best show on TV!

This show is number one in my Season Pass list, if or when this show has "jumped the shark" I will look back to this episode when Tommy gives up his red Ford pick-up for a Cadillac. He has to get the Red Ford back.

Love this show, can't believe the season is coming to an end.

Sorry for the Touretts bit there.

WADR, the best line/s on the show were:

Franco: Say hello Richie.
Sean/Probie: Hello, Richie.

I was literally in tears laughing at that one.

Something that's been bothering me for the last couple of shows...

When did Patti D'Arbanville (who I always thought was kinda hot) turn into the later version of Sally Struthers? Just doesn't quite do it for me so much anymore. :(

Best damn show on TV.

S#@t. Now you went and said out loud what we all were thinking. The "kiss of death" is upon us... it's only a matter of time before the network cancels.

Seriously - I have to agree. I just hope network execs don't see this thread, as it seems they're concerned with quantity of viewers rather than the quality of the program.

David Cross played that part (Donnie) on "Just Shoot Me". That's what I've been thinking of since the brother showed up. I think he's faking it.

That was by far my favorite episode of Just Shoot Me. "Vaccuum"

I also think he is faking it, at least to a small extent. He definitely is mentally ill, but I doubt he's full on retarded.

Funny, it struck me as a definite end to that storyline - the brother may (probably does) have problems, but he also has a sweet gig going with this sister taking care of him, is savvy enough to know that and knew exactly what to say to get sis to dump the new boyfriend -and dumped he is. She'll never believe Franco over her brother. End of story.

DougF

What resolution was there to the storyline with the Susan Sarandon character and Keela? I heard Franco tell his new girlfriend that Keela was living a much better life than he could provide or something similar. Was anything else really said?

Did I miss something?

Joeg180
08-14-2006, 02:30 PM
Franco had the daughter illegally from the scumbag foster parents(on the show, no inference to any real life foster parents), Susan Saradon knew it and took Keela from him to keep her from becoming a doormat like most of the women Franco dates.

The only other mention of Keela was to Tommy that she was at Disney and he could see her in 10 days or something like that.

That's how I interpreted it, as well. All the smile showed was that the brother doesn't want him there. Franco knows he's got no shot over the brother. End of story.

I'll be disappointed when it's off, but at least I have more FX melodrama to look forward to... Shield, Nip/Tuck.... :)

I noticed in one of the opening scenes during a hockey game that the probie's last name on the show is Silletti then they showed the opening credits and the show's co-producer is Tom Sellitti.

Yeah I thought that too. Maybe a quick side note later on as happened with Lou and his hooker/porn star. Maybe a fire in or around their neighborhood and we see him (Richard) having a conversation (a normal one) with someone then realizes Franco is there and shouts, "Nasty N-word" to cover his tracks. Or Franco (would take more then just Franco) pulls Richard from a fire, the sister is hurt bad, Franco sits by her side in the hospital (a la Tommy) until she is better, he swears off his life of fast women and gets Keela back and the world is good... Oh wait this is Rescue Me, the sister would have died in the fire but the brother would be ok.

I don't think the storyline is over, but I don't think it is a major part of the story anymore though either.
