So, as Deadwood and Entourage wrap up for the season, I'm getting ever closer to dropping HBO for at least a few months.

What is the 411 on major "originals" coming up on HBO over the next 3 - 4 months (Sept - Feb time frame)?

I know I might slightly miss "Inside the NFL" during the season, but I can just easily get my NFL fix elsewhere.

I also know that HBO is moving their "big movie premiere night" to Sundays for the fall while we all get to wait for more of the Sopranos, Rome, Curb, etc.

Saving the money for a few months is becoming more and more appealing as I think about it (and perhaps it sends a message to the HBO suits that they should have found something better to give us while the big shows aren't there), but would I be missing something that could be good?

Thanks in advance for any help making this decision!

You'll be missing The Wire, the best show on television.

Actually I never could get hardcore into The Wire. I saw parts of episodes, liked what I had seen, but wound up distracted by a bunch of other shows that were filling my TV watching schedules.

I do hope to eventually catch the entire series via DVD.

I remember thinking very much that The Wire was similar enough to Homicide: Life on the Street that I was happy about it. That was an old favorite and could easily be added to the "Shows I'm still pissed...." thread :D

Swap over to SHO for WEEDS and Sleeper Cell.

SHO also has an interesting show in the works, Dexter.
Serial Killer investigator for the Miami police who just happens to be a serial killer in his spare time,
starring Michael C. Hall from 6 Feet Under.

Handy thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=275122) (shameless plug) of scripted shows on premium cable.

I'm not real happy with the lack of new programming from HBO. What happened to:

G-string Diaries
REAL SEX
Taxi Cab Confessions
The Dennis Hoff Mustang Ranch show (whatever it's called)
the America Undercover series
etc etc.....

As far as I am concerned, HBO is in trouble. They have 1 show I like right now, Entourage.

They canned the good stuff and left huge holes in the schedule. SHO isnt any better, they killed off HUFF and DLM etc.

Had considreed turning it off too but I just cant. Ive had HBO for 10 years. I think im addicted to having it even if im not watching it alot.

Any major movie you might miss can always be found with Bit Torrent, converted for Tivo and watched that way. Start the flaming but that is reality.

HBO, don't want people downloading? Give us better quality shows, give us more episodes of the good shows (Sopranos, Entourage, The Wire etc), and stop taking 2 years to give us new seasons. If enough people cancel, they'll get the message.

As for SHO, I loved Sleeper Cell last year, when is it coming back on?

As soon as Deadwood and Lucky Louie are over, I plan to cancel HBO until the Sopranos start again or CYE.

Bring back OZ !!!
