They did confirm they intend to ship their new HD-DVR in August.

They did not talk at all about shipping 6.3 for our HD Tivo's, which is of course what we on this forum really care about...

"We will begin shipping our new HD DVR in the next few weeks..." (FWIW) as stated today. Not like I really care 'bout that other DVR.

Chase also answered a question the impact of not having the HD DVR and losing ground to competition. I'm paraphrasing here, but Chase responded that it was a calculated and deliberate decision NOT to promote the HD DVR because the current offering (we all know he was talking about the HR10 with TiVo service) did not fit their long term plans. They preferred to risk losing new customers to cable or Dish over promoting the TiVo service. Says a lot, doesn't it?

Yup, that they are even more clueless than we have been giving them credit for.

Clueless? Its more like they are laughing as they throw all of us under the bus. Pick us up and dust us off and then throw us under the next vehicle.

I can see why they wouldn't market it that hard right now. It's not MPEG4, so people would be annoyed, when they had to change boxes in 1, 2, or 3 months.

DTV has made their decision to not go with Tivo. That said, it would be a really stupid business move to heavily promote the Tivo HD-DVR. It is not the future of DTV. It won't support HD Locals and they will eventually have to be swapped out anyway. Why should DTV try to drive up the sales of the Tivo HD-DVR? It is unclear if the box is still being produced. DTV may not even have enough to sell if they were to heavily promote it.
It makes much more sense to wait a couple months until their HD-DVR ships and then do a big promotion/marketing of it.

I don't know what anyone would expect this to be worthy of a quarterly call anyway. Meaning, this isn't something Mr Carey would need to tell investors, regardless of the software state, ESPECIALLY if it's delayed (like it has been).

Wait till they see how many they loose over failing to keep with real Tivo technology.

If the S3 or the ComcasTivo is out now, they would look really stupid. But now that everyone is playing the waiting game, DTV may just get away with it.
