View Full Version : Showtime's "Weeds" - DVD Question

I recorded Weeds season 1 on Showtime HD in the last couple of months and it's widescreen. The DVD box set came out in July but onlyin a Full Screen release. Does anyone know if or when a widescreen box set will come out?

(Amazon has two listings for Weeds, one Full Screen, and the other "not available yet" with no specified screen format.)

Count me as a fan, but I also don't know anything about the DVDs.

I downloaded the whole first season on Bittorrent, loved it. Subscribed to Showtime solely for this season of Weeds + the extra HD movie channel. See, it's not piracy -- it got me to subscribe!!

Weeds looks great in HD, for sure. They've been replaying 2 eps every Monday to get everyone caught up. New season starts Monday, Aug 14, 10:00 PM eastern.

I'm stoked, or stoned :eek: , or something!

Also love the show, and also have no idea about the DVDs. Very glad the show's coming back this month. When the first season aired there wasn't much buzz about it and I figured it wouldn't return; was surprised when i heard it would.

I can't wait for Monday. I can't remember a season premiere I've been more excited abou than Weeds Season 2!

Thanks for all of the feedback on the show - I've heard good things, and am sure I'll like it!

I already bought Season One on DVD but am going to return it. In the event a widescreen version comes out later, I'll pick that one up. If not, well, I still have all of Season 1 on my HD-TiVo, and plan to watch those in a couple of mini-maratahons.

There was a huge uproar about it because it was going to be FS and not wide. There was talk from Lionsgate of a second edition in widescreen but I dont think it ever released.

Something about Walmart pressuring them on the 4:3 format or something. I dunno. I find it hard to believe Walmart would have any power in that regard, esp considering the material in the show itself.

If it were me, Id find it in widescreen elsewhere. And make sure that when you return it you make sure they know why so the store can be reminded of the power of the people.
