Okay -

So it's not on the S3 remote and it's not on other unit remotes like Humax. Did we ever find out what the "official" idea was for the window button?

LOL

2) It generates posts to these forums...

Thanks ;) Although... there's no real explanation - it does something for a Pioneer unit but TiVo printed something about it "possibly being used in the future" or whatnot. Is the Pioneer unit the future feature? Did the DirecTivos get PIP? :D

I think the original intetion was for the DirecTiVo units to get some sort of PIP. However that never quite happened. Also based on the pictures we've seen there is no Window button on the S3 remote, so it's something will likely never get used now.

Didn't that button get renamed to "Ratio" for the HDTiVo?

Yah- the remote for the HD-TIVO switches the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 on HD tv's.

Did we ever find out what the "official" idea was for the window button?Official? Feh. The "window" button on my peanut is the discrete IR code to get my Radio Shack s-video switcher to the TiVo input.

it looks like it's called Aspect on the S3 remote.

It's also available to HME apps. A developer can hook all of the peanut remote buttons to his program, save for the 'TiVo', 'Live TV' and 'Guide' buttons. Those 3 are reserved for the core dvr functions, and work the same as they do in the rest of the TiVo UI.
