I understand what the Thumbs Up/Down is suppose to do. However, does anyone really know the difference between giving one, two or three thumbs. In another thread somewhere, some guy said something similar to, be careful not to give three thumbs down, cause that will block, anything with that actors name, anything on the genre, and similar descriptions or something like that.

The Tivo manual just saids something similar to, give more thumbs up to shows you really like, and more thumbs down to shows you really don't like.

I have avoided giving anything three thumbs. If I dislike something, I just give it one thumbs down. If like I something I give it one thumbs up, and reserve two thumbs up for shows I really like.

So, does anyone know how the different number of thumbs actually affects the suggestions? I looked around and couldn't find any good explanations.

have never seen any specifics on how the numbr of thumbs are used but the above you posted is the general gist. one thumbs down has less unintended consequences adn generally will jus tdrop that show off the grid and give less weight to the genre.
If I really hate a show, the genre, the actors then I will go to two with an very rare three thumbs down to something like Flavor Flav on VH1.

I am a little more inclined to go two thumbs up for something I like and no bad actors are in it. Since every season pass automatically puts one thumb up I figured using two for some shows helps them stand out.

I use the triple thumbs down for paid programming, infomercials, and shows that I have absolutely no interest in ever watching (daytime soap operas, for example). By the same token, I use my triple thumbs up for shows that I absolutely love and have ranked high in the SP manager.

Two thumbs are strong dislike or liked a lot

One thumb is pretty good or pretty bad, but not absolutely out of the question either way.

There's no exact science, but once the tivo is broken in, it seems to get it right.
