I've got the HR10-250 a couple of months ago and it has worked fine up until yesterday. :(

I have the TiVo hooked up to my TV via the HDMI connection. About 75% of the time, when I change to the HDMI input on my TV there will just be a black screen that says "video 6." After about 5 minutes the screen will flicker (like a PC set to an unsupported resolution) then will come on and work fine (until I change inputs again).

I did reset the TiVo, but it is still having the problem. I haven't had a chance to pull the TV out and check the connections, but it has worked fine up until yesterday and I don't know how the cables would all of a sudden have a problem. Also, all of the other inputs on the TV are working fine.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I don't have anything else with HDMI output to test.

Update:

I was incorrect. The problem will also randomly happen while you are watching TV. The screen flashes green and then goes black for a while and comes back.. :(

Anyone have any ideas?

Try the component hookup to rule out the Tivo. It could be HDMI failure which seems to be kinda common. If the component hookup does the same thing it would be your unit most likely. Some tv sets have HDMI issues also, but you would need another device to check that.

OK so I pulled the TV out and replaced the cable. I'm still having the problem, so I know that it's not the cable.

I still don't have anything else to test it with, but I found that if I jiggle the HDMI cable on the TiVo the picture will come on for a minute and then go back off... That makes me really think that there is something wrong with the TiVo. Maybe it's not making a good connection or something.

I don't have a spare composite input on the TV, so I guess I'll be calling DirecTV for a warranty replacement. I really don't want to set up all my SPs again. :(
