The original hard drive in my HR10-250 finally died and with the help of the info in this forum and the purchase of InstantCake software, I was able to install a new drive and get the DVR running again. I had previously purchased an 300 GB add-on drive from Weaknees and when I originally installed it into the system, the DVR automatically recognized the additional capacity without any requirement to take the original drive out of the HR10-250. However, despite a great deal of searching through various forums, the only way I found to add the Weaknees drive back into the system was to run the mfsadd command with both the main drive and the original drive connected to a PC.

Even though the system is working properly (except I lost channel logo because of the clear and delete everything required with the InstantCake process), I'm really curious about how I could have added the second drive without the need to remove the main drive from the HR10-250. I assume there's a way to do this since I didn't need to connect the main drive to my PC when I originally added the Weaknees drive to the HR10-250.

Yes, you can add another hard drive, the answer is in the tivounderground forum. Also, if you zipper your hard drive you can get your logos back and get fake call.

I was able to add the additional drive by running the mfsadd command with both the main drive and the additional drive connected to a PC. What I'm curious about is what Weaknees does to prepare their add-on drives so that there is no need to remove the original drive from the HR10-250 when the additional drive is installed.

I thought that running BlessTiVo on the new drive before installing it might do the trick but that didn't work.
