View Full Version : Two R10's - One Remote??

I have read through some threads where folks are using an after-market remote to control multiple TiVo's. Like the MX500. I don't understand how even an MX500 can control two, identical DirecTivo's in the same location. Don't they have the same codes? I know my peanut from one R10 will control the other R10. Is there some way to change the R10's codes internally?

I guess this would be a case where you really should read the manual! I found the answer on page 96 of the User's Guide.

You DO know there is even a Tivo peanut remote that can run TWO D-Tivo's on separate codes at the flick of a switch.
I use these all the time, both for myself & many clients that have 2 D-Tivo's - they all love the remote. You can get them from Weaknees for $29.

The DirecTV universal remote 23 found on their website can control two R-15's so I would "assume" they could control two DirecTiVos too. I know they also can control an R-10 and R-15 at the same time.

There are some "functions" of the DTivo that can't be done via the RC-23 series of remotes.

The delete and switching between tuners do not work I found so far.

I am able to switch between tuners using the Directv RC23 remote all you have to do is press the down arrow key that is located below the select button.

No, the only tivo codes in the Rc23 are address ZER0, meaning they will control ALL peanut controlled tivos no matter what address they're set to.

And the Delete I think you are referring to is the quick delete (CLEAR) button... correct?

On the Rc23, tivo code 01442 has the exit command mapped to the EXIT key. But tivo code 01142 has the clear command on the EXIT key.

That is what I need, I guess I used the other code.

I wrote weakness about the peanut remote for R10's. I pointed out that the one with a switch for two Tivo's said it was for the Series 2 Stand-Alone. The answer I got back was that the $29 Humax remote works just fine with two R10's. I assume that is the one for the stand-alone.

I assume this remote that can control 2 Directivos will control an HR10-250 HD DVR, correct? I have 1 HD and 1 SD directivo.
thanks

Yes, DVR1 & DVR2, doesn't mean address 1 & address 2, each side has to be programmed with whatever address from 1-9 you're using.

Correct, so say you had, SIX D-Tivo's, you could run all of them in the same room w/THREE of these remotes... :D ;)
