Inserting a HDD from another Tivo unit as a 2nd drive.

Has anyone used a HDD from a tivo unit[TCD24004A] as an additional drive in another TCD24004A.
If so could you give me some pointers?

You can do it, but both drives would need to be put in a PC so that you can run mfsadd. It really does not matter what is on the drive, because it will be overwritten.

With the advent of cheap large drives, you are better off with one drive rather than two in a TiVo. If you have two drives, they become married and must always work together. If one dies, the TiVo becomes non-functional.
