View Full Version : Upgrading to the dual-tuner

Well, I'm upgrading from my Series2 40-hour, single-tuner to a Series2 80-hour, dual-tuner. Yet I'm poor. So why order one, you ask? Because it's $155.40 and I already pay $12.95/month for my main TiVo (the one being upgraded). The way I'm seeing it, I'm consolidating one year's worth of monthly payments into one annual one.

No interest in the Series3 given I don't have any HDTV service nor HDTV-capable display (I do have 6.1 audio, though), plus paying hundreds of dollars on top of service doesn't appeal to me. Maybe in a few years, I'll do it. The dual-tuners are what I care about the most.

I must have misinterpreted that rule. I will remove the text from my post, thanks.

This is a package deal anyway so it would come preactivated.

How do referrals work when you get a unit that doesn't need to be activated?

Evidently they don't, then.

Nevermind - I just tried the checkout sequence and noticed referrals are entered before you purchase it.

Are you using a cable box?

I have to wait until the S3 comes out, I heard sometime around September 31st 2008. :(

I have HD and an HDTV, I wanted to jump on the dual turner box but then realized that it would do me no good, at least not in the long run.

I have a single tuner that I use right now. I sure do hope that the S3 isn't over 300 bucks, that's my limit. If it's more than that then I'll wait until it comes down in price, I heard sometime in 2009.

No cable box, just standard analog cable, which is fine for me.

As an aside, just how can you track your order online? I've searched but can't find anything at all.

TiVo recently sent out notifications to the major cable companies that the S3 is currently in beta testing, soon to be available to consumers.

As an aside, just how can you track your order online? I've searched but can't find anything at all. I don't believe there is a way, but you should most likely receive it within 2-3 business days...

you have to wait for tivo to email you a confirmation and tracking number--it takes a day or two.

New guy here. I'll be getting my Tivo in a couple days and I had been wondering about the activation issue. If it comes pre-activated, how do I set up my online scheduling and stuff like that?
