Thinking of buying a tivo

I have been looking at buying Tivo . I am tired of the dvd recorder not turning on when scheduled or freezing during playback. I was wondering if I wanted to burn something to a dvd could I by using an external dvd recorder that I have connected to a notebook computer? If I read everything correct I will need the wireless network adapter to do so. Is there a certain box that I will need? Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance.

If you mean a USB DVD burner, you need to network the TiVo to the PC.

You need a netwok adapter for the TiVo, recommended you burchase the TiVo brand adapter, if not, consult the list at tivo.com/adapters.
