I'm really liking this show. I'm a chain restaurant, looking for the same food no matter where I am kind of guy, and Alton is making me want to go searching for some local hole in the wall to have dinner at.
No real comments on the ep (other than I liked it) but I wanted to start a thread because I felt it was so appropriate for the show's primary advertiser for the night to be Lipitor. :D

Years ago we stumbled on a little, really old, diner in Wycoff New Jersey.
It was plain in a way similar to the way Alton Brown described the old timer's in the restaurants on FOA.
It was obvious when we were served that everything was made right there.
And it was delicious as only true home made food can be.

I eat at places like that as often as I can.
But I gotta say, I'd be avoiding the brain sandwich.

I'm liking this show a lot, even though it makes me hungry and a little frustrated because I want to go eat at those places!
Damn, I miss the diners and counter restaurants of my youth, before McDonalds took over the world.

I'd love to be part of the crew on this trip. It would be such a great trip.

So yesterday I'm passing through Cashiers, NC on Hwy 64 when I run into a wall of barbecue smoke that nearly blocks the road. The aroma was intense. I was looking for a place to eat lunch and nearly slammed on the brakes to make a left turn into the parking lot. Unfortunately there was a minivan on my tail and I thought better of slamming on my brakes. There was no good place to make a U-turn for several miles.
Then I get home and check my TiVo for Alton's new show and as soon as he started talking about the place I KNEW it was the place I missed. So close!!!!! Who knows when I'll get back that way again. :( :( :(

Damn, Scuba! You should've gone with your instincts and done that U-turn.
Man, a road trip with my TiVo crew, and we go there, get a whole shoulder, and just ask for a sharp knife and a cutting board... Primeval is good.

Yeah, it's hard to watch that scene where he's talking to the van on his left, occaisionally looking at the road. I probably wouldn't think much of it had I not already heard of the crash.

Another great episode...that sliced pork looked GOOD!
Brain sandwich -- That thing was huge! I liked his summation on it. Even though it did not taste good to his palate, it was something that connected the people in the surrounding areas and was good to their palates.
Loved the tea room segment.
I hope he does another series of these.

I know this accident happens near Vegas on ep4, but every time he is riding and talking to the camera I fear the accident is about to happen. I'm sure they wont show it happening, one would hope, this is Food Network not Spike TV.
The show does make me want to get a bike and go out on a road trip with some friends though.

At AltonBrown.Com there was a complete description of each episode as a "normal" web page, but now that the show has aired it seems to only want to detail the ones (using fancy "Flash" player) that have been broadcast.
I think the "crash" is in episode #5, IIRC.
