You need to be more patient. Put all your questions in one and only one thread with a detailed, specific title, and explain exactly what your problem is, using details like the kind of hardware and software you have, exactly what problems you are experiencing, and the steps you already have tried to solve your problem.

It is poor form to start multiple threads on the same topic, and it's also poor form for new members to show up and demand instant help and complain if they don't get it 15 seconds after starting a thread.

People here try to be helpful, but we're not your personal slaves, or even paid tech support. You need to give us some information to work with, and be a little more patent. I would also strongly suggest using the search function, as nearly every commonly-occuring problem already has several threads devoted to it.

I would start by deleting all your duplicate threads, since they are going to irritate people before they even click on them.

The biggest problem is that the original question gets lost in the multiple threads and other members won't see all responses.

For anyone interested, do a search on this member's username.

Wald, I'll help you friend.

The stuttering and freezing almost always means a failing hard drive. Assuming that is the problem, then you need to install a new one with an image of the TiVo software from your unit.

If you haven't thrown out the original yet, you may still be able to pull a backup image from it. If so, use the instructions here:

http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/index9.html

If you can't pull an image from your existing unit, try www.ptvupgrade.com and order their "Instant Cake" CD which will have the image you need and make it really easy for you (it's like $20).

If you aren't comfortable doing the work yourself, PTV Upgrade, or www.weaknees.com can sell you one that is already imaged.

It's not super difficult. Good luck.

BTW, I think you have figured out now that this place is just a bunch of users, it's not a real time support mechanism by any stretch.

Welcome to town and be sure to stay an pass on what you've learned after your unit is back up and going.
