Last Sept I got a

S2 Tivo for rebate deal
-$30

so 6.95 * 12 = 83.40 - 30 = $53.40 / 12 = $4.45 per month
which was a super deal

and now I just got the S2 dual tuner deal at $150 / 12 = $12.50 per month

dual tunners are well worth the extra $8 per month.
DUAL TUNERS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DUAL TUNERS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as soon as my 1 year contract expires for last years deal, I ripping out the hard drive for a back up on my computer... and trashing the hardware.. saving the cables and remote of course.... (and other parts inside of the tivo I could reuse?)

so to me, Tivos have truly became disposable!

If you're going to choose to live without that box in the near future...

...go ahead and do it now.

What the OP is saying is saying (I think) is that TiVo hardware is so cheep that after one year you can get another unit without paying any more money than you did a year ago, but to trash the unit when it can be sold on E-Bay for some $60-$70, or you can save the slow (for a PC) 80G hard drive..I don't know if that makes sense. After a year you would only have to pay $6.95/month for the DT TiVo.

I'm sure TiVo's management will be thrilled to hear that.

Please remember to dispose of the cast-off electronic parts properly. By burying them near a lake or stream, the lead and other toxic elements can leak into the water supply, thereby helping mankind subdue the Earth. If everyone does his part, we can make this a safer world.
