what kind of 5x8 multiswitch do DirecTV installers usually bring?(powered or passive)

does the installer just use whatever he has in the van on the day of the installation? the guy left me a voicemail message to confirm the appointment
and said he saw DirecTV's notes about brining a 5x8 multiswitch... no mentions
of what kind it is... nor did he leave a callback number...

the reason I'm asking is that I already have a Terk 5x8 multiswitch that
has a 24v adapter plugged in. Can another powered multiswich be cascaded
after the first one? I currently have 4 SD DirecTiVos, 1 HD DirecTiVo, and
1 HD receiver.(total of 11 outputs required)

thanks! :)

It doesn't matter if the downstream multiswitch is powered or not. But, typically these are powered.

I just had a move install and the tech brought a 4x8 Eagle Aspen switch without the OTA in line (which did not matter as aI had a seperate line run for the antenna). Sometimes they bring the 5x8 Terk as well (my initial instal 2 and a half years ago used one), but since the switching method for the newer satellites does not support multiplexers, it is probably a good idea to run antenna wiring seperate anyway.
