New install of HR 10 250 HD Tivo DVR
It may just be me, it probably is just me but
I'm having huge problems with my newly
installed system and my fancy shamzy new
remote--Universal Osiris MX350.
I have had no luck trying to program
FAVS and getting simple functions like
"previous channel" to operate.
Question: I had a professional install
including programing of the remote.
Are there any known issues with start up
with an alternate universal remote?
Is there anything within newbie skill level
that I should check out?
Please advise.

As a longtime proud owner of 2 HTM (Home Theater Master) remotes I'd say check out their website.
http://www.universalremote.com/products/
Download the software and program it yourself!
It's rather simple and shouldn't take you very long to get the hang of it.
Also Check out Remote Central in their Files section for premade files for the components you have.
MAKE SURE that you backup the config the guy made for you though.

There is no software available on the URC web site any longer, you can only get it from Authorized dealer you purchased the remote from.
Anyways the mx-350 isn't a PC programmable remote.

Edmund,
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I have done the above. No joy, however.
Step #4, pick a device, might be the problem.
My choices for device are:
TV
Tivo
DVD
My uninformed mind is telling me that SAT should
be among those choices. I have done steps 1-7
picking TIVO with no result and picking TV with
no results.
Am I correct that SAT should be a choice?

the FAV macros can used with any device you wish. I had no idea what your setup was, so I used tivo as a example. On my mx-500 & 600 I used the fav with my webtv, instead of Ch's, it was websites.
If you wished CBS can be from SAT, NBC from CABLE, and third a radio station, you're not limited to one device.
Say you want to program CBS CH 0382 on Directv,
1. main and ent
2. FAV, the bottom key on the right, not the FAV key on the top left.
3. CBS
4. SAT device key
5. 0-3-8-2
6. press light switch on the side of the remote
7. save
8. main
9. main

Edmund,
Sorry. I'm not making myself clear.
My concern is that the only device choices
that are being displayed are:
TV
Tivo
DVD
Am I correct in thinking SAT should appear
in the device choice list?
( I have the HR 10250 HD Tivo DVR.)
Thanks for your patience.

The problem with mx-350 is you need to scroll often, using the page keys, since there are 5 items per page, instead 10 like other URC/HTM remotes. So when you see TV, TIVO, DVD, hit page to reveal other devces.

Edmund,
So near and yet so far. I read your message and
immediately went to page 2 of the device choices,
hoping that SAT would appear on that second page.
Drats.
The only thing listed is TIVO. That seems strange
as TIVO is listed along with TV and DVD on
page one. SAT is still MIA.
So, I'm back to the same question.
Shouldn't SAT appear on the list of devices?

No, not if the programmer changed name of the device? The first page of devices on my mx-350 looks like this:
TV
Tivo3
Tivo2
Tivo1
Webtv
Because I programmed that way.
Second page, because I left it untouched:
SAT
CD
VCR2
DVR
AUX
I don't use my mx-350 at all.

Edmund,
Hmmm. Is it reasonable for me to call my install guy
and question the abbreviated device list that HE
created? And, do you think that my problem
with creating my FAVS is due to a missing
device choice such as SAT?
Let me make sure. You're saying that the device
list is completely user-created?
In fact, is all text user created, i.e. the FAVS list--CBS, CNN, etc?
Nothing is "pre-loaded?"
Yes. I know. I'm sounding lost here though I've already
learned a lot from your messages, Edmund.

Device names, lcd commands in devices, and fav ch's are all user editable. Once changed, there is no simple way to get to factory labels, unless yout each one back to the original label. Yes, most differently get back to your programmer with any questions you have.

Thanks, Edmund, for taking the time to respond to
my questions. Greatly appreciated.
