Sony T60 Help

I have a friend with two Sony T60's they are both about the same in age and both are doing the same thing, every now and then and now this is happening evry other day or so, when they turn them on they get stuck in the pworing up mode for a couple of hours, he will unplug them and reboot them sometimes 3-4x before it will finally get past the powering up stage....are these the sypmtoms of the hard drives going bad?

Exactly what is meant by "when they turn them on"?
Are they actually just taking it out of standby? If so, try leaving them on all of the time and see what happens.

What are the internal temperatures of these T60s?

WHat I mean by turning them on is they are switching from DVD to TIVO input on TV, they units keep rebooting themselves it seems I will have to check the temps and post another message!
