Hi, I thought I posted this thread earlier but cant find it so if I posted it twice I appologize.
I just got my first tivo. Its a series 2 .I use a wireless network . I have 1 computer that I use as a media server and when transferring programs it takes 45 minutes to transfer a 1 hour program recorded at the basic setting . My router is 108 MB/s the card on the server is a 10/100 and the adapter on the Tivo is 54Mb/s The computers will transfer a standard MPEG at about 200 megs a minute when I move stuff between computers .Is this speed normal for Tivo? . Also, when transferring, the internet access on the other computers in the house slows to a crawl. Is this normal? Thanks
If im reading some of the other posts correctly this is close to normal speed. The Tivo records the show on the channel its on all the time so you can rewind it and pause it. So, it cant read the shows its going to transfer any faster than it spins the disk to write.
