I have a new HR 10-250 that I am connecting to my Samsung TV with an HDMI cable. I get good audio and Video on all the non-HD channels, however when I switch to the HD channels I only get video and no audio. Have any of you had this issue.

If I switch to component connections and RCA jack audio I get the audio and video on all the channels even the HD ones.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Is there a setup that controls the audio outputs?

There is a setup for the audio outputs but they work fine on the non-HD channels, it is only the HD channels that the audio doesnt work on.

the HD channels are sent out in dolby digital sound and your tv can't decode the audio signal through the hdmi port. It's been discussed quite a bit but I've never looked into a solution.

Thanks, is there any other work around other than using the component connectors that you know of. Can I use the HDMI for the video and send the audio over something else or send the audio to my receiver instead?

Thanks

Yes. I have video by HDMI to my TV and audio by optical to my receiver. Works great. The only issue is that you don't get the TiVo sound effects when the audio is DD5.1.

Sorry husker, I really don't know for sure cause I don't have hdmi on my tv. I have a DVI connection which has its own separate audio input right next to it since dvi can't do audio. I don't know if hdmi has that option or not but you can definitely send the audio to your receiver instead if you want. That should work fine. :)
