I wish I had time to read everything in this string (and others) but I don't! First of all...does anyone have the "new" D** Customer Retention 800 #? This one...800-600-8977...no longer works.
So here's what's knockin round my knoggin...

If D** included the hardware (2 USB 2.0 ports) on the back of my HR10-250, you can bet they have the software upgrade to "switch on" the Home Networking capabilities. So why haven't/won't they? Seems to me they are cutting themselves out of market share by doing so. With that said...I guess my only option is to buy a PTV Networked upgrade Drive thingy if I want all of the added capabilities that adding your DVR to a home network gives you.

Is there an "I'm leaving D** for blankity blank because blankity blank includes the Home Network capabilities with their service/system" monologue out here in Tivo Community land, that someone has been successful with when calling D** Customer Retention?

This is what I would like to do...

Equipment I have:
1. Sony SAT-T60 - A D** receiver w/Tivo (in bedroom)
2. HR10-250 - A D** HD Receiver w/Tivo (connected to
a 6.1 Home Theater)
3. 3 LNB Oval Dish w/multiplexor

with these 2 units I am able to record 2 different programs on each unit at the same time while watching a previously recorded program. (4 coax cables from dish, 2 to HR10-250 and 2 to SAT-T60)

I would like to upgrade both units to make them Network capable so that I can get full use out of them.

What do I need? How should I approach this? What about D**'s transition to MPEG4 receivers thats coming up (or already here)

I know this post was kinda long, so I will doubly appreciate any help the community can offer.

Thank you much.

The software enabling some of these features will be released soon (6.3). HMO will not automatically be enabled but you may be able to add it thru some mods.
As far as customer service goes, NO ONE at D* can do anything other than tell you "the software will be released soon, we have no specific date." They cannot enable anything for you at all, they can just give the party line regardless of whether or not you threaten to cancel. Be patient. It's on its way.

Networking can be easily enabled on the HR10-250 with a little effort on your part. Look for Gunnyman's thread in the Tivo Underground forum called "Hacking your series 2 DTivo just got a whole lot easier".
