Since getting my new DTivo installed I have been dissapointed by the loss of HMO and the ability to connect wirelessly to the network. I would like to plug the Humax back up and see if I can connect the two so I can still network with my computer and upstairs Tivo series 2. Is this possible?
Also, how can I avoid getting a home phone line and still get the DTV updates

You would need to add the Humax to your TiVo subscription. You need a separate DTV tuner. You cannot control the DTivo with the Humax TiVo.
The Humax TiVo should be able to get updates via the network. I assume that this is the same way you are doing it with your Series 2 upstairs.

I am still paying for the Humax sub so it is active. Are you saying I have to hook the Humax up through Cable (I still have analog cable...free with condo) or can I use it with the DTivo and "slave" the two together?

You cannot connect the Humax to the DirecTiVo. You will need a separate DTV receiver to use with the Humax. You lose the dual tuner capability.
A bit more work would be to "zipper" your DirecTiVo (if it is an R10, it is a lot harder). Look for the "zipper" thread in the Underground forum. This will take a bit to complete it, but it will give you the HMO capabilities on the DirecTiVo.

OK, I figured out the phone line issue in another post...lucily I don't need one even though the system says I need an update.
I still have the issue with the sad little Humax DVD burner TiVo sitting quietly on a shelf. It really wants to be hooked up to the downstairs plasma. too bad the Directivo won't share some space (no HMO  ) . So should I just set it up through the reg analog cable and just record that? I guess I am alright with that...but I would like to use the burner more, so I guess i need to find out how to link the two.
What I really need is HMO on my 10-250

Search for the "zipper" on the Underground forum. It is a bit of work to get it installed. You should also do it on a copy of the hard drive to avoid making your existing drive not work.
The Humax could be connected to another DirecTV tuner or to analog cable. Note that programs transferred to the Humax cannot be burned to DVD. Only programs originally recorded on the Humax can be burned.
