Hello,

I have an 80 hour series 2 tivo with a regular directv reciever and a slingbox hooked up to them.

I seem to have some stability problems. Sometimes the tv screen will be black, so I'll have to unplug the directv reciever and restart it to get it working. Also, right now i'm oversees using the slingbox and now for some reason it is stuck on a single channel, and won't change channels. I basically have a bunch of recordings (lost, the daily show, etc...) that are labeled correctly, but are not the actualy show.

It's kind of frustrating, so I'm wondering if anyone else has any issues like this.

Thanks

Why not use a DirecTiVo? You won't have to screw w/IR blasters, a DirecTV receiver and have dual tuners and more space efficiency for the recording quality you get.

My DTiVo has had no such probs. Some of your issues sound like a prob w/the receiver itself (if you have to unplug the receiver)

I would actually try dirctv tivo, but I want the Tivo to Go features. Also, that would require a 2 year committment to directv which I'm not interested in just yet.

Thanks

It sounds to me your IR blaster are missing some. You receiver may have some type of setting that just gives you a black screen that reads "channel not available" when it turns to the wrong channel initially. Then the IRs send another IR channel command but the rec doesn't respond because it wants to be told "channel up" instead of a channel number. So if you had somebody to press channel up on the receiver it would go to the next channel and then it would take IR commands again. You may want to tape the IR blasters in place to make sure they don't move.
