I have a series 2 DT, RF coax split, one to the DVR, the other to a Motorola HD cable box (Comcast). I also have an s-video connection from the cable box out to the DVR, and s-video from the DVR to my TV. All is good.

After running through the setup process, I get channels listed on both "box" and "cbl" for channels 1-99. Only the "cbl" channels are checked. The problem is, I get a much better picture on the "box" channels since its running through the s-video connection. But if I go into the setup and check all the "box" channels and unselect the "cbl" channels so that my Tivo remote will flip through the better picture channels (with channel up/down), the DVR tells me that configured this way will prevent recording two channels at the same time.

How do you get it both ways? Forcing the DVR to select the "box" connection while viewing, yet not disabling the DT functionality?

Thanks!

The channels from 1-99 are available on both "straight cable" and thru the box.

If you delete the "straight" cable versions and leave the box versions only, then NATURALLY it won't be able to record two channels at the same time, because you're telling it that EVERYTHING has to go thru the cable box.

"Ignore the analog cable [non-box] versions of those channels," you're saying.

In order to be able to record a second channel, tho', the TiVo has to have something besides the box to use as a signal source.

It NEEDS the "straight cable" versions of those channels in order to record a second channel while the box is being used to record a "first" channel.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying. I guess what I would really like to know is how do I tell the DVR that I want to surf/view the channels labeled "box". I can do this by "checking" both "cbl" and "box" channels in the channel listing (1-99) but then the DVR tunes to two versions of the same channel as I surf through channels.
