My goal is to upload short portions of a particular tv show to a service like Youtube or Google video.

I have a Hughes HDVR2 to record the show. I plan on buying a DVD burner and use the "save to vcr" function to burn the program to a DVD. Then convert the video/audio to a file such as AVI or MPEG4 to edit and upload.

My question, is this the best way to do what I want?

What software is best to convert the file on the DVD to a file type that can be edited and uploaded.

If I want only a small portion of a show burned to DVD what is the best process for doing this?

I see thousands of small clips of TV Shows on the internet so I know it's done all the time. I'm just trying to figure out the best way. I hate to waste a lot of time or money when there is a much easier way.

Thanks

Best to run the zipper script on your DVR2, then use TyTools to copy the programs from Tivo to PC in mpeg4 format.
