I currently have the origional Series 1 Sony DirectTivo

It been a little problematic so I want to get a new one ( I have had it for YEARS it's time for a new one)

the new one's , the series 2 Tivo's for Directv.

are the dual tuner still.. how easy is it to setup a second drive (or replace them), can I plug this into my wired and/or wireless network, and tell it to record a show via the web, also can I extract vid's to watch on my laptop?, anyone use them with the Sling Box?

You should head to the underground, as I think that's where such things are dicsussed in detail, but in short.

Easy to do, yes (w/ hacking), yes (w/ hacking), and yes (w/ hacking). I don't have a sling box, but some people do.

I use the slingbox with my SD-DVR40 series 2 DTivo. No issues. I love it.
