Hi All,

I know this is a little off topic, but I have been running my Tivo with a SKy+ box as the feed for some time now... (I no longer have Sky+ so the box just acts like a normal SKy box)

I had an issue yesterday where it appears that we had some sort of power failure (My Daily mail showed that the Tivo had rebooted, and I had mr Tivo man at the startup.

I noticed that there was no signal going to the Tivo, and on looking at the SKY box, there were no lights on.

I have tested the cable, so it is not a blown fuse in the plug... but I get nothing on the Sky box...

Has anyone else had this issue, and is it an easy one to fix???

I am no longer covered for the box.... so it may be a visit to our friendly auction site to get an old standard one..... but would like to get this one working again if i could...

Cheers

Martin

Has anyone tried to get a free replacement when a digibox fails after the warranty period expires? If you threaten to cancel your top-level subscription otherwise, I would have thought they would do anything to keep that income.

Because, if my digibox fails, I'd prefer to cancel than pay for another one.

Depends. It seems to depend a lot on the package you are on, and whether they are having problems with churn. If churn is bad, and you are in a cabled area, they've been more likely to offer you a replacement box. If you are a less profitable customer, not using interactive or PPV, or only on a lower package, you seem to be less likely to get a replacement off them.

I am only on a £15 per month basis..... so I think a replacement would not be likely.....

£65 gets any subscriber a replacement box (regular or Sky+).

Those with even modest negotiating powers will pay less. £0 for example.

Be a lot easier to answer your question if you gave us the manufacturers name and exact model number from the back / bottom of the box!

Will check it out tonight when I get home.... In the mean time , I have managed to get hold of a "Spare" standad pace sky box, so at least I am up and running!
