View Full Version : Recording ads on it's own?

I'm watching a dvd at 1am and have the tivo on standby. When all of a sudden it turns on and starts recording. I stop my movie to see what it's doing and see it's on a discovery ch that's showing miniads. Ok now I know how all those stupid ads are getting on my tivo. I can understand them doing this if it keeps costs low for us BUT. What if I had something set to record at that time? Would I have lost it? And is the hard drive being filled up with these to where I'm losing record time?

The TiVo only picks up Showcases when there's nothing else scheduled to be recorded. Showcases go into a partition of the hard drive reserved for that.

yep, another teleworld sighting. ;)

they go into the partition reserved for the OS and other things TiVo. You do not lose any recording time. Some block the yellow star ads by blocking these teleworld recoridngs.

As for me I was laughing out loud watching the Keane like ad for Blue underwear.

Thx guys. At first I was kind of PO'ed that it was doing this but at the same time kind of thought it was cool how they set it up to do that. Love, Hate thing I guess.

Oh never mind I get it, the kind you can only watch when everyone else is asleep.

There was nothing on tv and I had a Mind of Mencia dvd to watch.

You don't lose advertised drive space, and your recordings take precidence over the the Teleworld recordings.

I'd rather watch paint dry if watching Mind of Mencia was the only other choice I had.
