DirecTV and Tivo not working together

Hi, I just got my TIVO box in today. I have DirecTV. I do not have the tivo/directv box combo. I'm using seperate boxes for each. Just so you know. I can't get the channels to change. I've tried everything I could possibly try. And nothing has worked. What is wrong here? I'm very annoyed.

You got the IR Blaster set up correctly?

Yes, I have the IR in the back of the tivo correctly with the 2 little remote thingies in front of the remote eye in front of the directv box (1 1/2 inches from it, one on top and one on the bottom and they are taped down).

This assumes you are using the IR blasters to change the channel. If not we need more information. How have you set up the TiVo to change channels? What Directv box are you using?

I think my model is HIRD E1 as far as I can tell. I don't see it listed at that link you gave. The only thing I could find that was close to my model was HIRD E11, is that the same thing?

Oh I am changing the channels using the IR thing yes. I already explained that didn't I?

if the directv box has something in the back that looks like a small phone jack u can use a serial cable. Much more accurate than ir blasters. look in the cables that came with the tivo. there should be one with 1/8 in stereo plug on one end and a small phone looking plug on the other end you plug the phone looking end in the jack in the back of receiver and the stereo end in the back of tivo labelled serial. than in setup state u are using a serial cable
