Speed after 300+300 / 512 Cachecard upgrade

Hi, I have upgraded to 300 + 300 plus cachecard with 512Mb RAM, while I am having unresolved ocasional issues due to hardisk (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=307656) , I havenoticed a increased speed on the now playing list but all other functions seems to be "sluggish" compared to my previosus setup pf 120+80 (no cachecard). Mainly the most sluggish part is the EPG navigation, to me I had better speed before.

Now, what sort of performance you see whet you move from a 200Gb setup to a 600Gb one adding cachecard ?

Any Ideas wellcomed.

I don't think the cachecard will have any effect on the EPG, I didn't notice any difference after upgrading.

Its more for HD intensive tasks like re-ordering season passes etc, especially if your HD is full.

There seems to be quite a variation in what advantages people found with a cachecard. Personally, I never saw any real improvement, although it might slow down less if I were to later increase the drive size.

However, a response time of (say) three seconds for a menu will still seem slow, even if it was six seconds before. As with increasing CPU speeds, you need a pretty dramatic increase to perceive a real improvement.

I did wonder about using a more expensive memory module than the budget eBuyer one that I used but, unless somebody says that makes a difference, I won't bother.

I'm currently running an almost empty Tivo WITHOUT cache and I did a search of my wishlists last night and I am SURE it took longer than when I did have the cache

If I remember, I'll time it tonight and then when I get my cache back operating, I'll time it again and report the differences

OK, reporting back (as promised)

I had a 40Gb Tivo with NO cachecard support. Searching Wishlists for all matches took 29 seconds

Now I have a 200Gb Tivo WITH cachecard support (and possibly one or two MORE wishlist entries) - searching for all matches took a little under 10 seconds!

I'm convinced that the cache makes a difference

(Also, although I didn't time it, I deleted a Season Pass on the un-cached 40Gb Tivo and it took "forever" to sort out the Todo list)
