I was wondering if anyone had any idea HOW MANY "active" Tivos there are in the UK?
I've often wondered as the people who know probably wouldn't swap it for anything else, despite it being fairly old technology now
Also, the fact that there seems to be pretty brisk trade on eBay and a few people running businesses upgrading/repairing them points to a fairly healthy market
Anyone got any numbers?

Estimates of around 30-35k seem most popular.

I'd say 10-15k by now. There were probably 20 or even 25k at one point, but many will habe broken or been replaced by Sky+ by now.

Tivo CS will know exactly how many are active - anybody got a friend there who could check?
Funnily enough, I thought I was seeing a drop-off in sales over the last few months that could have been evidence of a decline in TiVo numbers - but it has picked up again and July has been a bumper month!
All we need now is a Series 2 (or 3?) to be released in the UK and I'll be a happy bunny indeed :)

Estimates of around 30-35k seem most popular.I think that estimate was based upon the sequence of the customer registration number that Gary used to log, but there was a suspicious jump of 10,000 one month. Stuart's estimate is probably nearer the mark.
I suspect that there were a significant number of TiVo owners who never found this forum, and didn't realise that their broken TiVo was recoverable.

Looking at blindlemons comments up a bit and combining that with some comments about Sky +, I am left wondering whether there was a dip as people moved from Tico to Sky + and now we're seeing a rebound when people discover what they're missing
Or maybe I am seeing a trend just 'cos I want to

My other half has been driving me up the wall since our Tivo went on the blink. Tivo really missed an opportunity there - it really is a gadget suitable for women.
All her friends now know what Tivo is and want one but alas a few years too late really.

Well I recently moved house and thought it's time to get Sky HD for the football. So I'm getting my first experience of Sky+ while the sad Tivo sits in its box waiting.
Now after about 7 weeks, my other half says to me "it's rubbish this Sky box, I can't find any of my favourite programmes any more - 300 Sky channels and nothing to watch - I want Tivo back".
I think I agree, so I'm going to try to wire up both.
