I have a dual tuner tivo unit and i want to replace the primary drive with a single 300GB seagate harddrive. I was looking at some of the stickies, and reading through it, through the people that were having issues and such it got kind of confusing. So im hoping someone can tell me what i need to do to use this drive. I have already made a image from my dual tuners hdd when i first got it. No i just need to know how to get this 300gb drive to work.

Use mfsrestore to restore your image, but make sure you use -r 4 in the command line. Set the swap to -s 127 to avoid the extra step of initializing the swap space. It should work fine.

here is the command i was using...
mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -zxpi /mnt/tivo.bak /dev/hda1 /dev/hdd
hda1=primary master drive with tivo.bak image
hdd=new seagate drive
when i did it with mfstools it would only give my 147gb, i downloaded the weaknees bootdisc and it gave my the 300+hrs but when i put it in my tivo the screen went black after saying tivo starting up...in a few more minutes,.

You need to use the Weaknees LBA48 boot disk. I think that is what you are using.
The correct commands are:
1) mount the drive with the backup
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt
2) You imply that the name of the backup file is tivo.bck. If so the correct command is:
mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -zxpi /mnt/backup.bak /dev/hdd
This should give you a drive that will work.

yeah my bad my tivo backup is actually tivo.bak it was just a typo in the command i posted. i will try your command hopefully it all goes well. i dont wanna have to return a 300gb drive and buy another 120.
also can i use my original drive as the master and just add the 300gb to the mix and if so would you be kind enough to provide a command and master/slave config settings for me.
thanx.

got my original 80gb drive setup on the system as a 2nd drive now, so that made it approx 420hrs of recording..w00t.
