I know perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised (but I was)
I'm in the process of changing a suspect drive for a new one (or rather our optically-challenged citrus friend is doing it for me!) and, so my wife wouldn't go into Tivo withdrawal, I stuck the 40Gb drive in that I swapped out over a year ago.
Tivo restarted OK and I forced a daily call (well to be honest, it forced ME to do one!) and then it spent a few hours sorting out what had changed since it last made a call.
And my wife now has her Tivo running again (and you should have seen the length of the "Channel Update" mail was!
Oh, and how did we EVER manage without all those wonderful hacks, internet access and the cache - hope my 200Gb drive (with all the goodies) is back soon
