Hi everyone,
My beloved SAT-T60 died a few weeks ago -- original hard drive finally croaked. Prior to doing anything, I called D* for troubleshooting help, and the level 2 tech support acknowledged that the unit is dead, and offered to replace it with a SD DTivo for S/H only. I didn't take the offer, told the lady I'd think about it, and that was that.
Subsequently I replaced the dead drive myself and revived my SAT-T60.
My question is, will D* know that my DTivo is active again? I hope I don't seem greedy, but even though I fixed it myself, I'd still like to take advantage of their offer, since I have two other regular receivers that I am paying mirroring fees already anyway, I might as well upgrade one of them to a DTivo. (I'd really like the HD DTivo, even though it's a different forum...) I worry that if they realize I fixed the machine myself, they're going to withdraw the offer and make me pay for any new DTivos I want to get...
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is your SAT-T60 still active on your account, Should not be a problem to add the
DTivo when you get it, Because it is being sent as a replacement it may or may not have a access card when you receive it.
Using one of your access cards from your regular receiver on the DTivo is hit or miss with Directv allowing you to do this. Worst case they would want $20.00 for a new access Card.

Thanks for the info. But when I call D* to tell them that I want to take the replacement offer, are they going to know that I've been using my SAT-T60 and therefore don't need that replacement?

No, should not be a problem.

Not so. The OP should take DTV up on their offer, activate the new DTivo exactly as they describe, then place a card from the regular receiver into the repaired T-60, and call x722.

  Works like a champ on the older DTivos

  Works like a champ on the older DTivosYes, I should clarify that what I posted won't work on any newer DTivos, i.e., those with an RID number listed on the back label. For those units, you must speak to a live CSR. The OP had an S1, for which it will work.

Actually if you order a replacement unit for the SAT-T60 then you would have to send back that same unit in exchange for the erp. So in the end you would still have only one TIVO.

D* has taken to not requesting old units back since the DVR4ME deal (or does so in few cases), and I would not foresee them asking for a series 1 back.
