I am in a fortunate position to have two TiVo units. One is upraded with all the bells 'n' whistles (thanks to our main man 'BlindLemon', the other is as-is circa 1999. Reason why he latter one never got upgraded was that I couldnt get the Cache Card to work with it.
I'm suspecting, after all the mucking around with diagnostics, that the connectors underneath the motherboard need a good 'scrubbin'.

Are the motherboards easily removed are are they 'glued' down???

Could just sell it I guess..... :)

TiVo motherboards are easy to remove. One torx screw and a few twisty metal lugs, plus the philips/torx screws holding the scart sockets etc. to the rear panel.

Should take you 5 minutes :)

You might find that the cachecard simply wasn't seated correctly. You often have to remove the foot from the case that projects upwards into the cachecard's path. Once seated, you can replace the foot, although it helps to cut a millimeter or two from it first.

Hmmm did all that...
Interestingly, the motherboard is sitting on a layer of black sticky foam which seems to holding the board down. I'm wondering if some of this 'gunk' has contaminated the underside of the edge connector.
Well, I've got nothing planned today so lets get busy with those screw drivers... :D

Keep ya'll posted...

I had a bit of problems fitting my cachcard and had to lift the Mboard to get it to seat correctly.

Ok..Ok having now spent the time sitting down with the little chap and taking my time it would appear that I wasnt 'careful' enough turning those little steel lugs around. Motherboard is now out and edge connectors 'buffed'.

Next step, rip the working TiVo to bits and 'borrow' the HD and CacheCard..

You can almost predict the next message, cant you??

To remove the rubber foot, you first remove the plastic center pin.
