Hi,

I have a Standalone series 2 Tivo that is having problems recording. Screen freezing, recordings recording only a single image, etc. I am guessing that the problem is the hard drive.

So, can I get rid of my single 80 gig drive in my tivo & replace it with something larger? I dont really need or want a backup & I can keep the dying drive as the backup itself. Plus I dont have win98 anymore or any type of fat32.

I have a spare test PC that I can use with a cd, & 4 ide slots.

Can I get a 250 gig drive, use my original tivo drive as the data source & the 250 gig as the "new" main tivo drive?

What should I be reading to get aquainted with the process?

Thanks,
Rich

Read the stickies at the top of this forum. What you propose will work if the image on current is not corrupt. If it is you will be better off with InstantCake.

Why risk copying a problematic drive image to a new drive? The money you pay for InstantCake will save you the hassles of reimaging that new drive if the original image you have is corrupted.
