I opened up my new dual tuner Tivo for a quick upgrade and noticed a Western DigitalWD800BB inside. Since when did Tivo stop using Maxtors?

Tivo uses the cheapest drive they can source at the time of building units. You'll find Maxtors and WD drives. Can't say I've seen one with a factory installed Seagate drive, though.

All of my Series 2s came with, and have installed, WD drives.

Ditto in my DT. WD drive, and replaced with a WD drive.

Every S2 DTivo and HDTivo I've ever seen has come with a WD drive. I haven't seen one come with a Quaxtor since the S1's were discontinued.

My 540x came with a 40GB Maxtor QuickView. Yanked it for a 200GB Seagate. Looks really nice on the shelf in the basement...
