apparently it may be a "stuck" DVD...

but how do you get it out?

On the Pioneer 810H, there's a manual eject "paperclip" hole located between the two front bezels (above where the display shows "HDD")

Gently insert a straightened out paperclip (or some other small diameter metal rod) and a push will unlock the tray and push it out enough to grab it.

After you do this, you need to reboot the box to get it back to normal operation

My SD-H400 received an update from TiVo last night and it is also cycling the power on screen over and over again. Bad update? Guess I should contact TiVo.

More likely a drive problem. TiVos have two OS partitions. If it is currently booting from A the upgrade is installed on B and then the unit reboots from B and is running the new software. The next update lands on A and it goes back to booting there, etc. But if the drive has a problem on the sectors used for B it may not be caught until it tries to boot.

There are kickstart methods to force different boot options:
|| While booting the power light will change from green to yellow as the
|| line 'checkpanic' in the rc.sysinit gets executed. This happens a few
|| seconds before the screen changes from the startup image to "almost
|| there" and it's your cue to hold down a button (use pause) on the
|| remote to trigger a panic. When the record light changes yellow, key in
|| one of the following sequences:
||
|| 0 - emergency call to tivo, touchtone dialing
|| 1 - emergency call to tivo, pulse dialing
|| 9 - emergency call to tivo, touchtone w/ 9 prefix
|| -- I suggest not doing any of these unless explicitly instructed
||
|| 52 - emergency reinstall
|| -- this will act like you've received new software but will
|| reinstall the existing software on the alternate root partition
|| and boot it, particularly useful so you don't have to go
|| trolling for backup images when your hacks fail.
||
|| 56 - software install
||
|| 57 - mfs check
|| 58 - perform mfs cleanup
|| -- both of these will cause the green screen and various mfs
|| checks

Any ideas on how to eject the DVD on a DRT-800? There is no hole for a paperclip on this unit. I can fold down the drive door, but the drive itself is flat with no observable way to manually eject the disc.

It was pretty hard to find the paperclip hole for the Pioneer 810HS as well. I'd search around a bit, or contact the manufacturer.

I'm having the same problem and am trying to troubleshoot it as I type this.
The manual eject button is on the drive itself. The "drive door" on the Humax is just a flip down door that the drive tray pushes down on it's way out. The manual eject button is on the lower left hand corner. Unfortunately, pushing it isn't doing me any good at the "Welcome! Powering up..." screen.

The harddrive itself is at constant activity (I can hear the whirring and grinding of a busy harddrive on the inside). It sounds almost like a very thorough disk check is going on. Sounds like it's time for me to get a new drive. :(
