View Full Version : My LATEST Humax problem....

OK, I've been through four Humax units with built in DVD recorder, although this one has lasted the longest. (Had it for about eight months)

Tonight, I saw a local commercial with someone I thought I recognized. I quickly used the reverse button to view it and the system totally locked up.

Upon unplugging the sytem from the wall, and waiting a couple of minutes, I got the "Welcome, Powering Up" screen for 30 seconds or so. It then goes to a solid white screen and nothing else happens.

Once before I had a similar problem, and I remember it reversed itself when I was able to remove the DVD from the drive.

Is there a way to force the DVD out, even though none of my controls are responding?

Thanks!

I've heard that if you use something like a butter knife or your fingernail to open the front door gently and expose the inner DVD tray, that there's an eject button on it.

Although, I just looked on my Toshiba RS-TX20 which is the same case layout and I didn't see one. I did see what might be a paper-clip eject hole on the lower left side of the tray mechanism but it doesn't look to be easy to get to.

Tried to reboot this thing about 20 times on Saturday night. I'd unplug it for five seconds or 25 minutes and it would do the same thing everytime. Come up on the boot screen, then go to a totally white screen.

Several other times when I've had problems, I've noticed either the machine will reboot itself after several hours, or will work when you unplug it after an extended period.

I went to bed Saturday night, with the machine plugged in and on the white screen. Eight hours later, I unplugged it, waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. It booted flawlessly, and is working just fine now.

Wasn't able to get the DVD out until AFTER the reboot.

Very odd machines these Humax Tivos!

When I insert certain dvd's in my humax(like Madagascar), it tries to load the disc and then reboots its self. They are very odd indeed.

I had the same issue, place a prerecofded DVD in my DRT800 and it would just reboot. It would get to the end of the reboot process right before it plays the TIVO diddy and reboot again.
Called Humax and after going through the script of unplugging it and such it just keep rebooting, an endless loop.
Used ye old paper clip to open the drive to retrive the DVD and the unit worked fine but once placing a prerecorded DVD in, it did the reboot thing.
Humax took my credit card number and sent me another unit and I haven't had an issue since.
