Anyone else think the fact that Directv is upgrading the older receivers that this may be good news for DirecTiVo? :) Or are we still Sol.

It's good news for HR10-250 owners.
The Tivo Zipper's been out for nearly a year - hack your series 2 DirecTivo to get Multiroom Viewing, Home Media Options and lots of other stuff http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html

;) My hope was more in the line of a series 3 directivo with interesting goodies like built in wi fi and the ability to put things on the tivo other than directv. Line in would be great or simply put your own home movie mpgs on the tivo. Also built in HD expandability like a pc. Make the S3 Directivo with the sata slots like a pc. Than directv could sell the drives. ;) :)

Dont hold your breath on any new directivos. It would be nice. I like your idea of the built in wifi!

No, I don't see what you describe as coming. It is a whole different animal that Directv has no need to breed. They would probably be losing their focus as a company if they did so. I suspect old Rupert isn't going to lose his focus.
Just my opinion of course.
