Black and White Tivo

After about 6 hours, my Tivo goes to black and white. After replacing all the cables to no effect, and performing a restart from the menu also did not work,I unplugged the Tivo, and did a "hard reboot". This fixes the problem for another six hours...... Any suggestions?? Thanks

If you are using the s-video cable, then make sure it is securely connected on both ends.

I have this same problem with my 140 model when using S-Video, and to fix it, I plug in a composite video cable (yellow cable/plug) from the second TiVo output to a VCR that isn't even turned on or used anymore... the S-Video cable then goes from the TiVo to my TV... and this resolves it for me...

So, in short:

TiVo Output 1:

- Red/White audio to TV
- S-Video to TV

TiVo Output 2:

- Yellow video to VCR (VCR does not have to be turned on or used)

Thanks for the response. I have the same setup as mchips, and to no avail. Agian all new and well seated cables. The strange thing is while the picture appears in BW the recordings are in color.

Did u rule out the possibility that it's your TV?

Oh, ya, DVD, VCR work fine even when Tivo is playing BW...

But are the DVD, VCR and TiVo all playing through the same input on the TV?

Like I did above, it might help if you illustrate exactly what you have plugged into where...
