Tivo is displaying a corrupt image

So twice now. Once last night and once this morning, the Tivo hangs, crashes and displays an image that is very corrupt. Over all the color of the image is green but there is some purple in there to. I cant discern if it orignal said something before it became corrupt.

So far if I reboot (unplug .. replug) it come up fine and contiues to work. It doesn't seem to happen at any particular time or after i do something.

Anybody have any suggestion? Is there a way to force the tivo to do a check of the hardrive and the OS?

Model number and age of TiVo?

Is there an easy way of finding that out? Its kind of in an awkard place n the entertainment system? Is there a menu option that ill let me know that?

The TSN is listed on the system information screen. The first 3 digits are the same as the first three digits of the model number on tivo branded machines.
