We recently had a power outage due to heavy storms. When the power came back on our DirecTV receiver with TiVo only seems to get half the channels. I reset the unit, tried different cables, moved it upstairs and hooked it into a cable that runs the other TiVo box (which is working) but I still don't get all the channels. When I do a signal test, all of the odd transponders and a few even ones are not getting a signal. Could this be due to a lightning strike? Is it possible to get the unit fixed? Its an older series 1 (I believe) Phillips DVS6000.
Thanks

do you have all of your electronics connected to UPS's and true SURGE Supressers?
Not "just" a "power strip".
Have you considered a "whole house protector"?
I just moved to an area with thunderstorms, so I have added UPS's to all 3 Tivo's and TV's attached.
Before I get my HD set, I will seriously consider the whole-house surge suppression.

Alas, no, I did not have it on a UPS. Nothing else seems to be affected. All my Now Playing programs are still there and I can watch some live TV. I get the "Searching for signal on satellite 1" message when trying to view most channels.

First thing, and least expensive, thing to do is check all cable/connections for corrosion. It is possible that the lightning strike messed up the receivers LNB switching circuitry. If it is an older dish, then it could also have been affected.
