Hi,

My 140-hour single tuner Tivo Series 2 box died yesterday, and Circuit City swapped it out for an 80-hour DUAL tuner Tivo Series 2.

My TV setup with the single tuner tivo was very simple.

Coax cable from wall to tivo. svideo and audio to TV. No cable box, No VCR.

Question: I'm not sure how to make use of both tuners on the Tivo DT. Does anyone have a similar setup?

There is only one coax input on the Tivo DT, which I plugged the cable coming from the wall into. So now my Tivo DT is acting just like a single tuner Tivo Series 2.

Since there is only 1 coax input (I was assuming there would be 2), i'm not sure how to get a feed into the 2nd Tivo tuner.

Thanks!

I believe the unit splits the cable internally. You probably have make sure it is set to record from both tuners during guided setup.

It connects exactly the same way as your previous Tivo.
Set up two recordings for right now and see what happens.
Then read the manual.

Shouldn't be. You should be able to record two shows. The DT has an internal splitter. If you AREN'T able to record two shows at once, you have a hardware problem.

Take a look at the setup poster again. All you need is the one input. You don't need to make any changes to your setup.

Manual anyone? ;)

The DT splits the signal internally. This does not need to be defined during setup.

Also hitting livetv from livetv changes tuners. Or viewing the channel info lets you see whats on the other tuner and switch them.

Thanks for the info.

I actually did read(skim) the manual. However, for some reason I had already decided the Tivo would not be able to split the one analog cable connection, so I was looking for setup instructions based on having to use a splitter.

ANYWAY, all is working great now. LOVE the S2 DT. SO much faster than my 140-hour S2 ST. I'm more than happy to give up 60 hours in exchange for faster response time and dual tuners.

You should be able to put a bigger drive into the DT machine, shouldn't you?
