Must one be a subscriber to DirecTV's HD package to receive the HD-DNS channels? I think I am eligible to receive them, but I don't subscribe to the HD package and I'm not currently receiving the HD DNS channels. I've seen people mention here that you can get the HBO or Showtime HD feeds by simply purchasing those channel packages without the HD package. It seems to me it should work the same way for someone who is currently purchasing the SD DNS channels. I'm just curious if I should be receiving the HD channels or if I would need to pay the extra $10 a month to get them.

No, no more so than for the SD channels. But you do have to qualify.

Well, strangely enough, despite the fact that I am qualified for the HD DNS channels, the CSR refused to turn them on for me unless I purchased the HD package. After I declined, she eventually gave me the HD package for free for 4 months. So I am now receiving the HD DNS stations from New York. Hopefully I'll be able to cancel the HD package in 4 months and have the network stations remain.

I understand you need the HD package OR locals package to receive the HD DNS feeds.

Hmm.. so if I get the SD locals, I STILL might be eligible for DNS locals? My OTA signal is in the 90s, so I likely wouldn't spend the dough anyway, but, doesn't DTV do the same trick with HD as SD when it comes to locals? If the local stations say you can get a good signal with OTA, then you have to use that as opposed to allowing you DNS ?

When I was playing around with my Silver Sensor and others I was contemplating this question, but then got a real antenna and all the issues I had cleared up, but this thread kinda reminded me of my original question.
