HR10-250 can't dial, stuck negotiating?

Hi,

I hope someone else can help me out. I have a HR10-250 and use Vonage. For the past 556 days it has not made a daily call and I just deal with the nag screen once a day if we turn it on.

I saw the messages about the 6.x upgrade and was excited!! So I took my TiVo to a friend's house to get it to dial. It never finished a call and continued to be stuck on "negotiating". Has anyone else had this happen?

Has anyone experienced this? I want the f upgrade and the next one as well!

I had this problem. I have DSL and as soon as I disconnected the dsl line and forced the call, it finished no problem.

I have this problem too. When I got my first HR10-250, I made the initial phone call at a friend's house, (since I don't have a landline) and haven't made a call since (337 days ago).

I recently got a second HR10-250, and again went to my friend's house to setup the initial call for the new one, as well as make another call on the old one. The new one made the call fine, and everything worked.

The old HR10-250 though, got stuck on negotiating for like 30 mins before it finally failed. "Failed while negotiating" is the Error I get.

I've even recently tried making the call with the Serial to PPP connection from my laptop. Again, this works fine for the new HR10-250, but fails for the old HR10-250 unit.

I'm not sure how to resolve this problem either, and am hoping someone on this forum has some suggestions on how to fix. I want that new software upgrade as well.

Thought I would also post my ModemLog, when I try connecting the old HR10-250 through the Serial to PPP connection. Again, this works for my new one, so I'm sure it is only a problem with the old HR10-250 unit....

I had the same thing when I first got DSL. I had to stack three filters on the wireless jack to get it to work correctly.

I don't have DSL, I have a Cable Modem, and like I said before the new HR10-250 works fine. So I don't think that is the problem.

However, the call-in numbers are different. So maybe that call in number doesn't exist anymore or doesn't work for my reciever now for some reason.

So now the problem is, how do I change the call-in number? I tried to select a new one through the guide, but of course it wants to call-out for access numbers, and again it times out/fails when trying to do this. Anyway to force it call a certain number?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a cable modem thru Time Warner and have not been able to connect as well, I've been hoping someone would come up with a solution and post it.

Mine is unable to get the list of local numbers, dial the old 508 area code number or dial the 212 number. It would always get stuck at negotiating.

I really want 6.3, does it enable the USB ports?

6.3 is not out yet, so even if you connect, you won't get it.

Did you check the dialing options to make sure it is dialing with correct setup, such as a 1 before the area code, etc?

OK, I have Vonage and all of the problems. Apparently our calls enter the telephone network in NYC so you need a 212 Manhattan number for D*.

1) set your number format to NNN-NNNN with no areacode (doesn't matter what the number is)
2) Set Dial Prefix to *99, (Commas are important throughout)
3) Set Call Waiting Prefix to *70,18778771756,,,,

Do a testcall and if it succeeds accept it. (Note: Try a couple of times. If it always fails,
try adding or removing a comma at the end of the CW Prefix line.)

Now try to get a new number using 212 area code and select 212-202-9705
Set both prefix's to (None) and test call
If it works accept it.

This works for me where nothing else did.

Note: Doesn't always connect during day, but is quite successful during A.M. EST
